Model A Ford Engine

Good used original Model A Ford engine. This engine was inspected and has been repaired as necessary to correct an oil leak that was caused due to excessive clearance On THE REAR MAIN BEARING. Since it did not require machine work   it is technically NOT a REBUILT engine and therefore is being sold as a USED engine.  However, every effort was made to ensure the bottom of this engine is now 100%with-in specification clearances.

Upon removal of the oil pan the bottom of the engine appeared in very good shape. We removed the main bearing caps and found the babbitt on all 3 bearings to be in satisfactory condition however clearance of the RMB was in excess .005 (five thousands). We proceeded to adjust the main bearings & the caps using shims as required to achieve the spec clearance of .0015 at 85 pounds torque. We then went on to the rod bearings and adjusted them using shims to spec at .002 clearance at 45 pounds torque.

 The engine was running smoothly when removed and a compression test indicated 70#s compression on all 4 cylinders. Therefore, the owner elected not to remove the cylinder head as the rings and valves appeared to be functioning properly. It includes a rebuilt Carburetor and Distributor. We are confident this engine will provide a reliable power plant for the new owner. Installation and road testing can be provided if desired. Located in Atascadero CA.
